O`Spa Air Source Heat Pump 5.5KW

Ultra compact, the Poolex O`Spa is a heat pump for spas that can save you up to 75% in energy consumpution when heating your spa compared to a conventinal electric heater (at an equivilent power consumption).

The O`Spa can be installed on any type of hot tub and nordic bath in order to take over an electric heater and optimize the increase in temperature inside your spa.

You only need to connect the heat pump and its relay will manage the electric heater initially integrated to the spa.

The O`Spa has a 5kw capacity and the unit measures at just 380 x 440 x 423mm!!

  • Operates down to -7°
  • Reversible Hot/Cold
  • Automatic de-icing
  • Compatible with all spas
  • Control through a wifi connection – optional
  • Integrated pilot for an auxiliary circulation pump (relay option)

How Does a Heat Pump Work?

A heat pump uses the same principle as an air-conditioner however the other way around!  Whereas an air-conditioner provides cool air; a heat pump emits heat. But how does a heat pump actually work?

  1. A fan draws in the ambient air over the evaporator.
  2. The warmth in the air is transferred to a circuit filled with eco-friendly gas.
  3. A built-in compressor heats the gas to a very high temperature.
  4. In the heat exchanger, the gas transfers its heat to the pool water.
  5. The gas becomes liquid again and flows back to the evaporator where this process starts again.

The use of a heat pump is therefore extremely environmentally friendly. You save a lot of energy because the COP value (Coefficient of Performance) equals 9 or even higher. This means that per 1 kW of electricity consumed, you regain at least 9 kW of heat. Because of the high return, it is an energy-efficient solution to enjoy a pleasant water temperature in your pool or spa all year round.

Why Choose an Inverter Heat Pump?

The heating capacity of a heat pump is crucial to maintain a constant water temperature. To best achieve this, choose a heat pump with inverter technology rather than an on/off system.

Inverter technology makes it possible to reach high COPs regardless of the ambient temperature. This technology controls the speed of both the fan and the compressor.

By running it in “turbo” mode, you can achieve the desired temperature within a short lapse of time.  (ie quickly achieve bathing temperature after a water refill).  Once the water temperature is reached, the heat pump runs at reduced speed and the water temperature remains constant. As a result, a higher efficiency is achieved and your energy savings are substantial.

The inverter heat pumps all have the option to use a “soft starter” function. This ensures a gradual start-up with minimal strain on your electrical installation.

Inverter technology offers another advantage as the lower speed of the fan and compressor reduces the sound of the heat pump considerably. Another asset that keeps your neighbours happy too.

If you were to opt for an on/off heat pump, the pump will always run at its maximum capacity. As soon as the desired water temperature is reached, the pump switches off, is completely silent and does not consume any energy.  From the moment the water temperature drops, the pump switches back on again.
