How a hot tub can enhance your wellbeing

Blog Detail Image

One in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time. There’s no single cause and there’s no one solution. After all, we’re all different! But, the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems. For Mental Health Awareness Week this year, we’re raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental health and some of the practical steps we can take to address it.

About Mental Health Awareness Week

The Mental Health Foundation started Mental Health Awareness Week 21 years ago and they continue to set the theme, organise and host the week. It has grown to become one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and globally.

It takes place between 9th – 15th May, 2022.

Dealing with loneliness:

Help & Advice

We can all feel lonely at times.  Many of us have felt lonely and struggled throughout the Covid pandemic.   We can even feel lonely when we’re surrounded by others.  In fact, millions of us hide our feelings of loneliness from friends and family.  Long-term loneliness is closely linked to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety.

Dealing with loneliness can be difficult.  But there are things we can do to cope with loneliness and prevent some of the negative feelings and mental health problems that come with it.  The Mental Health Foundation have worked with people who have experienced loneliness to develop some help and advice that you might find useful for yourself or to support other people who are feeling lonely.

How Hot Tubs can enhance your wellbeing

Hot Tubs provide the perfect environment for hydrotherapy, utilising the combination of water, heat and air to promote health and wellbeing. In fact, these three elements help to relax and soothe the mind, as well as the body.

Add a little extra to the water to enhance it’s healing effects even further. We supply a range of hydrotherapy crystals and dead sea salts such as the Spazazz RX Stress Therapy Crystals.  As you soak, your body is being stimulated, energized, protected, relaxed, rebuilt and elevated through a special blend of vitamins and natural extracts.

Enjoying time in a hot tub can:

  • Improve the quality of your sleep
  • Reduce muscle and joint pain
  • Refresh and relax your mind
  • Help  you enjoy being outdoors more
  • Provide a space to share time with loved ones

With regard to this years theme of dealing with loneliness, we will focus on how a hot tub offers the perfect opportunity to connect with others.

How a hot tub can help strengthen your social connections

Having regular, meaningful conversation – making the time to really listen to our loved ones, as well as express ourselves is a vital first step to good mental health.  Now, we are not suggesting that in order to have a great conversation everyone must have a hot tub in the back garden. The right atmosphere can be created in many settings, over a coffee at a favourite coffee shop, at the dinner table in the home – it is more about creating the time and space to really show your interest and care.

But many have found that one way to recharge relationships, to bond and create new, good memories is in the hot tub. The hot tub inevitably becomes a gathering place for family & friends and a conduit for conversation. Free of electronic devices, the relaxing cosy environment of the warm water becomes a cocoon-like safe haven for sharing – talking and hearing about everyday thoughts and concerns. Once a routine for meeting up in the hot tub is established, conversation often sparks off naturally.

The great news is that the extensive improvements in wellbeing from using a hot tub are accessible to all – injuries, age and most health conditions provide no barrier to using a hot tub.  Take a look at our Hot Tub Finder for help in identifying a hot tub that best matches your needs.

At Castle Hot Tubs, we pride ourselves on being, “The Friendly Company” – so you are also assured of a very warm welcome at our showrooms.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
